Biking

So yesterday when I was riding my bike I went for the regular 2 miles and it seemed easy, but supper was in the oven so I could not go for longer, but today I went for 4 miles.  I wasn't sure if I should double it, but it was not too far, I wasn't even exhausted when I got back, felt good enough to pick up all the branches before I even went in for a drink.

I found a race I would love to enter, but I am worried now about my shins but I really do want to run in it and the deadline is Oct 21, so by then I will have to decide.  The run is on Nov 4th in Banff and it is at night, and it just sounds real cool.  I am trying to talk a friend into going with me, if she wont I probly wont go this year either, but next year is another story.

I might just run a couple times a week and ride my bike the rest, that means I will still be getting the excersize  without the jarring on my legs so much at once.  I will see how that goes.

Change Of Plans

Well a change of plans here, I have gotten the wrong shoes, so I think I am beginning to get shin splints and therefore am changing things up and gonna rest the shins and started biking.  I rode for 2 miles today and will probly be sore tomorrow cause I went faster than I should have but it wasn't too hard.  And I found a perfect set of core workout for running which I will still start on, even though I won't be running for a while now.

I had run yesterday and Saturday and I had been noticing for a while my shins hurt but I thought it was just gcause running was new to me but I was reading yesterday and it says to rest till they go away or it will just keep getting worse.  And just as I was starting to enjoy running :(

Pushing Myself

So I noticed the other night when Neil come with me to run that I have a pretty nice little run.  I can do it pretty easy and if I don't go when it is really hot out, I don't hardly even sweat.  So I am thinking I need to maybe push myself a little bit.

This is where it gets complicated, I can either go farther, go faster, or run more and walk less.  I am not sure which is the best route to take.  But I am not sure I want to go farther because I have no indication of how much farther it would be, the next marker would be 2 miles out so 4 miles total.  I think I might know where 1 mile is, but unless I kinda guess with my truck I won't know for sure.  But I guess it might not matter how far I run so much as I am running.

And faster, I hate to go faster cause I am still having trouble with my lungs, but I also don't know if i go faster sometimes it might help.  Or just go for longer runs so I won't go faster just yet, it's not a race even if I have to remind myself that all the time.

So I guess that leaves me with more running and less walking.  I have started that with the middle run being 1 1/2 minutes and the rest 1 min and all walking 1 minute.  So maybe I will start with 1min run, 1 min walk, 1 1/2 min run, 1 min walk 1 1/2 min run, 1 min walk, 1 1/2 min run, 1 min walk and 1 min run.  That will be an extra minute running and if all goes well it will still be in my 1 mile distance.

I also think I am gonna start doing some sort of core exersize in hopes that my back will get less sore.  I have not decided what yet, maybe see what Susan is doing or look up some good ones and we will see.

Distances

Today I kinda tried to measure how much time it took me to run.  Seems like I been running for 7 minutes and walking for 6.  Might have to go a little farther cause that only makes for 13 minutes total and that is going about a mile.  Of course that is not including stretching and warming up.  But the trouble is there is no other marker I know of to stop at.  Both going west and north from our house is a texas gate at 1/2 mile so that makes it easy.  I might have to take my truck out and mark where certain distances are.

More and More Running

Yesterdays run was a horrible one.  I was kinda sore and I picked the wrong time of the day, it was way to hot out.  So I ended up walking most of the time but I am glad I got out and done it anyways.

Today was so much better, went earlier in the day when the temp is about 10*C and that seems ideal for me to run in, I don't sweat much and I can still breathe easily.  I run about 1 1/2 minutes and walked about 1 minute, although towards the end it ended up the other way around but I had to keep going.  I am noticing I am needing to stretch more before i run now as well as afterwards oar I get sore.

I am trying to push myself and not sure that is the best thing to do, think I need to look up a running plan and find out what the best way is.  Probly shoulda done that before I started this whole new expedition.

Running

So been a long time since I posted on here, almost forgot about it.  But I have started running and am not very good at it but better than i was to start.  I am now up to about 1 1/2 minutes running with 1 minute walking.  It was going good and improving until I run when it was cold out then i noticed it set me back, but I also know my lungs do not like cold weather, but I guess they will have to get used to it cause I have no intentions of quitting.

I have not been very good on the diet part, just guess I like food more than I like being thin I spose.  But again I will keep trying and slowly am trying to cut out high fat foods and get more healthy ones.  Not necessarily healthy but better than before.  Like been trying to drink either flavored or carbonated water instead of pop.  I really like pop so this is slow going, but Im trying and gonna keep trying till something happens I guess.

And I been talking to a bunch of others who run so they make me enthused and I got a friend I asked her to ask me everyday if I run and so it keeps me motivated and she is a runner to so that helps a lot as well.
